TOWER BRIDGE GLASS FLOOR WALK

Tower Bridge or London Bridge.

First, ensure you are at the correct bridge to go on the Tower Bridge glass floor walk. The photo above is of the Tower Bridge. It is often mistaken for “London Bridge,” which is incorrect. London Bridge is a different bridge further up the river. If you do a Google search for “London Bridge,” you will see many photos of “Tower Bridge.”

Why is it called Tower Bridge?

You might suspect the bridge is called Tower Bridge because of the two towers, one at each end. However, this would not be correct. Tower Bridge is so named because it is close to the Tower of London.

If you go up one of the towers on the bridge, you can walk across to the other tower on the upper level.

Tickets and General Information

You can walk across the lower level of Tower Bridge for free at any time except when the bridge is up to allow a passing ship.

You will need to purchase a ticket to walk across the upper level. Get your tickets at the north tower, which is the one closest to the Tower of London.

At the time of writing, adult tickets cost 13.40 (British pounds). However, there are several discounts for seniors, students, and children. The walk is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the last entry is at 5 p.m., as everyone has to be out by 6 p.m. Prices and times are subject to change. Tickets include a tour of the engine room used to power the lift bridge.

There are 206 stairs to the upper walkway, but there is also a lift (elevator).

If the glass floor is too scary for you, there is a narrow walkway on either side.
