CANADA – From Sea to Sea to Sea

Ottawa

Canada

Canada is one of the world’s favourite tourist destinations. Visit this awe-inspiring country.

It is an immense country, stretching 9,306 km (5,780 miles) at its widest point from Mt St Elias, Yukon, to Cape Spear, Newfoundland.    However, it is a bit shorter in a straight line across southern Canada.   The Trans-Canada Highway stretches 8,030 km from coast to coast.

Here are links to the places in Canada that I have written about on this website.

Ottawa

First of all, you could start with a visit to Ottawa, our capital city. Shown above is the beautiful Gothic Revival parliament building.    In addition to the centre block, there are two more buildings, one on either side of this one. Construction started in 1860, but the building was destroyed by fire in 1916. As a result, work began again, and the current building was completed in 1927.

Horseshoe Canyon

People tend to think of Canada as a land of ice and snow, but there is so much more to it than that. The Canadian Badlands are not what you expect to see in photos of Canada. The Badlands have strange rock formations,  canyons, rattlesnakes and scenery more typical of southern Utah and Arizona.   Take a hike in Horseshoe Canyon.

Buying a vehicle in Canada

Finally, you have planned your trip to Canada and are almost ready to go. Especially relevant is knowing how you are going to get around. For short visits, you can rent a car. However, if you have the time for a lengthy stay, you should consider purchasing a vehicle.   Therefore, I wrote this post on how to buy a vehicle in Canada if you are not a Canadian.
