Climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney

Most tourists are satisfied to get their picture taken with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.  For more energetic people, you can walk across the bridge for some lovely views of the Opera House and the harbour.

For the really adventurous people, you can take the guided bridge climb, although the trip is not cheap.  Prices range from $153 to $363, depending on several options and time of day and week.

Bridge Cimb

The Bridge Climb is not a climb but more like an extremely steep hike.  You will need to be in good physical shape to do it.    They will outfit you with a special set of coveralls and a harness.   A strap will attach to the bridge so that you cannot fall off.   They don’t want bodies falling onto the road below and blocking the traffic.

You cannot bring anything with you on the bridge climb.  This includes cell phones, cameras or anything else.  They don’t want things falling from the bridge onto vehicles below.

The cost of the bridge climb includes one group photograph and a certificate to prove you did the climb.  Additional photos of your trip will be available for purchase.  There is also a gift shop where you can purchase clothing, mugs, etc., as souvenirs of your trip.

If you want to be adventurous and do something very different, go for the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb.  This is just one of many adventures that I will be writing about in Australia over the next six months.
