Mexican Vehicles
Cute Mexican Vehicles. On my many trips to Mexico, I encountered some strange vehicles. Here are some photos. Updated Sep 2022.
Tortilla Delivery Truck
In Valladolid, I checked out a Tortilleria to see how they made tortillas. The best part of the tour was finding this cute little Tortilla Delivery truck made from a motorcycle.
Moto Taxi
You might get one of these if you call for a taxi in small towns or villages. It is a Moto Taxi, made from a motorcycle.
VW Bug Taxi
If you call for a taxi in larger cities, you might get a surprise. It might be a Volkswagen Beetle. Each city has its unique colour. White and Blue from Acapulco; red and gold from Mexico City. Update 2002. They were very common a few years ago, but not many are left now.
Water Taxi
In Acapulco, if you have spent the day in town and need to return to your hotel, you have a couple of options. First, you could go by road, but if your hotel is on the beach, you can go down to the dock, in the city’s centre, and catch a water taxi. Surprisingly, it was cheaper than going by road for longer distances.
Coke Truck
I chuckled when I saw this tiny, electric Coca-Cola truck in Merida.
Car Rentals
Renting a car can be expensive, even in Mexico. The cheapest car to rent is a Volkswagen Beetle. They rent for about $25 per day. Some of them are old and kind of beat-up and painted in strange colours. Here are a couple that I rented in Yucatan. The blue one was made into a convertible by hacking off part of the roof. The other had a camouflage pattern hand paint job. Great for birdwatching!
Three-wheel Taxi
This photo was taken in Guatemala, not Mexico, but it is too cute to leave out. They are common in the city of Flores.
